4 Reasons Your Bedroom Is Keeping You Awake

Are you struggling to get a good night’s sleep? If so, it could be because your bedroom is keeping your awake. If it is not comfortable, or too noisy, it is of little surprise that you can’t get the precious six to eight hours that you need. With that in mind, read on to discover some of the reasons why your bedroom is stopping you from sleeping.

4 Reasons Your Bedroom Is Keeping Your Awake

Your mattress – Perhaps the reason you are struggling to get to sleep is because your mattress is not comfortable. It is vital to have a mattress that is supportive, healthy, and comfy to sleep on. Not only do you need to purchase one with care, but you need to look after it properly too. This involves flipping your mattress with the seasons, alternating between side-over-side rotation and end-over-end rotation. Comfortable and snug bed linen is a must, such as the items available at Frette. After all, if your duvet causes you to itch or your bed sheet feels hard and uncomfortable, you’re not going to be able to sleep as well.

Noise – If you get woken up every morning when the garbage truck arrives, or you live on a busy street and people that have been out partying always wake you up with their drunken rambles, it can be hard to find a fix. Of course, earplugs are the obvious solution, but if you can still hear noise, what are you meant to do? A basic fan can make a difference, drowning out any noises that get in the way of your REM cycle, or try a white noise app or machine.

Temperature – The temperature of your bedroom is another reason why you may be struggling to get a good night’s sleep. Do you feel that sometimes you are too cold and then other times you are too hot? If your internal thermostat fluctuates, you are going to have a restless sleep. You will need to experiment to find the right temperature for you, as everyone is comfortable at different temperatures. But, in most cases, it tends to be a case of the cooler, the better, so start off at a lower temperature and work your way up until you are satisfied.

Allergies – Last but not least, the final reason why you may be struggling to get to sleep in the evening is because of allergies. After all, it is hard to get to sleep when you have a stuffy nose or your throat feels tickly. Seasonal allergies are one thing, but something that stays with us all year round is dust mites. Clean your bedding as often as you can and vacuum your room with a HEPA filter.

If you are struggling to sleep because of the reasons mentioned above, make sure you follow the advice that has been given. You should begin to notice an immediate improvement, helping you to doze off and get a more restful night’s slumber.
