Hartz – Exceptional Pet Care Products
It started with singing canaries…
Our story begins in 1926 when an almost penniless 26-year-old Max Stern decided to leave his native Germany for the promise of America. Germany was suffering from the ravages of the First World War. The allure of America’s stability, freedom and economic opportunity beckoned.
A childhood friend of Stern’s, a local pet dealer, had borrowed a modest sum and could only pay back the loan with 5,000 singing canaries. Stern accepted the canaries and decided to sell them in New York City.
Hartz has long been a trusted source of pet supplies, by caring pet owners.
I received a huge box of goodies from the Hartz company, for my beloved furbabies. It was full of products that my boys are really enjoying. They are especially thrilled with the bags of Oinkies® and the bright and colorful toys!
When I saw that they carry products for turtles, I went straight to the store and picked up some Turtle Treats for Tucker, Stumpy, Crush and Houdini! If you know anything about Red Eared Slider Turtles, you’ll know that they are skittish creatures, thus the name. If ANYTHING spooks them ( and I mean ANYTHING), then slide right off the spot where they are basking and dive into the water. They have to been handled and handled and handled and still they remain aloof and ready to bolt. Hand feeding is essential in working with these adorable creatures. The Turtle Treat Sticks are great for hand feeding both while in their tank and when we take them out.
Today Hartz is 1,500 products strong—catering to dogs, cats, parakeets, canaries, parrots, cockatiels, finches, goldfish, tropical fish, reptiles, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits.
