Grilling with Kingsford Charcoal and Walmart Beef!

This post is sponsored by DataRank, Kingsford charcoal .  All recipes, thoughts and opinions are my own.

Fall weather is upon us and so is football season, that means grilling with Kingsford charcoal and Walmart beef products!

I love to cook outdoors when the temps have dropped a bit, and there is nothing like the taste of food cooked over charcoal. This is the perfect time of year for outdoor bar-b-q’s and, or course, tailgating!

I hate dealing with lighter fluid, so I always get Match Light charcoal from Kingsford.  It’s so simple to use, and the 8 lb. bag provides at least 2 grilling sessions.  Just place in grill, light and wait about 10 to 15 minutes – now you can to cooking!

Ready for cooking!

I know that  a lot of people automatically think STEAK when grilling, but we are more into burgers and out house. One of my family’s all time favorites is my cheese cracker burgers – they are kind of a cross between traditional hamburgers and meat loaf. I honestly don’t remember how this recipe came about.  it was probably because we were poor with a houseful of kids, and the crackers helped to stretch the meat.  No matter what the reason, my husband and kids love these burgers.

Since there are usually just four of us, I used one pound of ground round. Walmart carries a great selection of beef products.  If you can’t find what you’re looking for, simply ask an employees for help! I used Cheez-It crackers, since that’s what I had on hand, but any brand of cheese flavored cracker will do.  Now, when it comes to steak sauce, Country Bob’s is my FAVE.  It’s on the aisle with all the other steak sauces and condiments.  I prefer using garlic powder over garlic salt, and white pepper, since I’m allergic to black pepper. Again, this all comes down to your personal preferences.

First, crush the crackers into very small pieces I used 3 small snack size bags). Mix crackers crumbs into meat, along with a good 1/4 cup of steak sauce and garlic powder and pepper to taste.  Shape into patties, and you’re ready to grill!

Place on grill and cook until almost done all the way through the burgers.  Then, flip, and finish on other side.

I served this with roasted fingerling potatoes and a tossed green salad.   Burgers can be eaten on their on, or in a bun.

  • We have a gas grill and we use that baby all year long – even in the snow.

  • My husband uses Kingsford charcoal when he grills. He’s tried other charcoals, and they didn’t work as well. As a non-griller I was surprised by that, but I guess all little charcoal squares aren’t created equal!

  • My husband’s a big griler, I remember once I brought home charcoal to be helpful. It was just a house brand. He took it back to get Kingsford!

  • I haven’t cooked on a charcoal grill in years. We use a natural gas grill but I miss that smoky flavor that you get with charcoal.

  • This meal does look scrumptious, I ‘m not sure about the steak sauce, though; we’re watching our sodium intake.

  • Well, tomorrow night is football night (Friday), but tomorrow’s high is only 39 here in KY. So, tailgate grilling is going to get awful chilly!
