How to Get More Energy Back into Your Life
Chances are, you remember being a kid, or even in your late teens to early twenties, and having so much energy. You could sleep for a few hours, and you’d still be able to take on the day ahead of you. You could be busy and work an entire day and still be able to have the energy to be social. This energy and all of this stamina fade as we age. While technically, age does have something to do with energy levels, your lifestyle and how you take care of yourself are going to play a much larger role in all of this. So, here are some ways to get more energy back into your life.
Start By Eating a Healthy Diet
Eating a balanced diet of complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein provides steady energy throughout the day. Ideally, you’ll want to avoid sugary and processed foods, which can cause energy spikes followed by crashes. Avoid dehydration by drinking plenty of water, especially before and after exercise. Speaking of water, try to drink actual water rather than juices or sodas.
Chances are, you’re more dehydrated than you think you are. It’s so important to keep hydrated, as this is actually a major mistake that so many people make. Sure, you might have questions like how to choose a ceramic water filter, something that should be kept in mind. But make sure you’re drinking pure filtered water. Hydration is key to good health, and it’s key to a healthy diet too.
You Need to Manage Your Stress Properly
Everyone has stress; it’s just a part of life. But it gets to the point where this shouldn’t be consuming you. Emotional stress drains your energy, causing fatigue. It can also interfere with sleep, worsening the problem. Find time to relax and recharge, like reading a book or meditating. It’s best to practice these activities regularly, so you can develop a stress-management tool that works for you. It’s also best to consider looking into a therapist, too, as they may be able to help you out with your stress. Overall, getting the chance to vent really helps.
Try to Get Better Sleep
While this is fairly obvious, it should never be neglected whatsoever. How you sleep can affect you for multiple days, not just one day. Sometimes, it can take multiple days to bounce back from one bad night of sleep. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep each night, and try to be consistent with your bedtime and wake time. Avoid eating a large meal within a few hours of going to sleep, and don’t have electronics in your bedroom (TVs, computers, phones, etc).
Try to avoid caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol in the hours leading up to bed too. It’s also so important to note that feeling tired is not the same as being fatigued. Fatigue typically lasts longer than 24 hours and is accompanied by a lack of energy and motivation. It’s also more persistent and often won’t go away even with a good night’s sleep.

I always feel like I never get enough sleep. So on my days off I tend to oversleep. Not sure if it’s beneficial or not but I do have to listen to my body.
