Last-Minute Getaway Ideas

Are you looking to get away for a couple of days? Maybe you are wanting to just take a break from the stress and exhaustion of routine daily life.

Well, here is a list for you to get thinking about where you could getaway last minute.

1. Visit National Parks and Monuments

There are tons of national parks and monuments that are not as far away as they seem. To be labeled a national park or monument, the area has to possess a unique natural, cultural, or recreational resource. And it must be in need of protection. Natural geological structures can be some of the most awe-inspiring places to be.

One way to get there more easily and by spending less money is by investing an RV. Traveling by RV saves money because you don’t have to book or pay for hotels and many have little burners so you can even cook! It also saves you time because you don’t have to worry about busy weekends and hotels having no rooms. Find out how you can easily finance an RV or motor-home.

2. Be a Tourist in Your Own Town

Look up popular museums and shows in your area and go to them. Pretend you are on a trip and visiting a new place — your city will seem much cooler and more exciting. You can even spend some time finding new mom and pop shops and trying out a restaurant you wouldn’t think to visit in your routine life. Take an art or cooking class. Many recreation centers or art galleries offer fun classes. Discover all that your local area has to offer!

3. Book a cruise

Many cruise lines have flash deals last-minute if the ship hasn’t filled up. If you live in a coastal area, this is particularly appealing because the travel is fairly easy to get to a port. Cruises don’t require much prep because everything you need is on the boat and most lines offer fun excursions where they do all the work and planning and even provide lunch. Going on a cruise can be the most relaxing getaway out there!

4. Join a Tour Company

Just like cruise lines, many tour companies and travel agencies offer discounts for last-minute tours. Going on a tour is convenient because it doesn’t require any planning on your end because the tour guide and the agency take care of that. You could do one far away if you have the time and finances, or many offer day tours to a nearby historically significant place.

You can do this on your own or call a travel agent, but many airlines offer cheaper flights to fill up the cabin. Try looking at locations you wouldn’t think of visiting initially. But many popular tourist destinations have cheap options as well because they have more flights going in and out of that area. You can even try just going to the airport with a small carry on and ask at the gates to see if there any cheap flights to a different place.

Traveling is one of the most rewarding things we can do, and seeing the world can be much more affordable and accessible than you think!
