Never Have Another Uncomfortable Summer

While some people love the heat and find nothing better than the heat of summer beating down on their shoulders, many people find it more than a little uncomfortable. You might be in the latter of the group and are already thinking about ways to make your next summer time a little more bearable.

Here are tips to keep in mind as the heat rises, so that you never have another uncomfortable Summer!

Hydrate

As it gets hotter in the day, it is natural to reach for water more often. But it is key to start hydrating before it gets warm and keep that up with sips of water at least every 15 minutes during the day. It might sound excessive, but it helps the body stay cooler than drinking a big glass every few hours.

Drinking water like this can stop heat, headaches, and nausea and help your body to perspire in a helpful way.

Light Layers

The reason that summer is so hard to dress for is that you can only take off so much before you are right down to your birthday suit! Surely it sounds logical then to wear as little as possible? Well, if we look at countries that are naturally hot all the time, something they do is wear light layers and covering.

Light coverings help to protect your skin from direct heat and reflect some of it back, too. Cotton is breathable and can help wick away sweat, which is ideal. Wide-brim hats, sunglasses, light scarves, and shoulder wraps can help you to stay cooler!

AC

An AC unit that is old or not working properly uses up energy and doesn’t give you the output you need. If whole house AC is too costly, then consider which room having an AC unit in would be the most beneficial.

Have a conversation with a professional air conditioning installation team and see what the best option is for you. In some cases, there are payment plans or cheaper options that can help your home stay cool.

Fans can also be incredibly useful, and even if they are blowing the warm air around, that circulation can prevent the room from feeling so sticky.

Skip Midday

For those who have the luxury of not heading outside between 11:30 and 2 p.m., then try to do that as much as possible. If you are really impacted by heat, then it is likely after a short stint in the peak of the day, it will take you a while to recover. It is also possible for the heat to peak later in the day, so keep one step ahead of it, check the highest temps and when they might occur, and see how much you can plan your day around that.

Dip

Access to a pool is lovely and can really help you cool down in the heat. However, if you don’t have a pool, putting your feet into a bucket with cold water can help reduce your temperature pretty quickly! So can running your hands under a tap.

  • I have to have a portable ac for my bedroom bc my room gets hot during the summer months. This summer has been brutal too. We have had record number of days well over 100 degrees. I’m so ready for fall weather.
