About the Book:

Covering topics such as “It’s Jesus or Jail,” “Marriage, the Hard Way,” “Children: The Gift You Can’t Give Back,” and “All the Things I Don’t Know…And All the Things I Definitely Do,” stand-up comedienne, actress, and ABC’s The View co-host Sherri Shepherd comically chronicle her struggles to keep up with the many roles-professional, wife, mother, daughter, and friend-that women must play in today’s world. Sherri urges women to pursue their most important dreams and to never give up, but also lets readers know that it’s okay to give themselves “permission slips” when things don’t always work out the way they want them to.

My Review:

*Would I recommend this book to my friends? – YES

*Who would like this book? – People  who enjoy autobiographies, and
women  who permission to “Give themselves a break.”

*What did I like best?  – OMGoodness…
the photo on the back cover is an absolute riot.
Sherri believes in miracles!

*Favorite Line – “Write yourself a permission slip to celebrate
the things you haven’t done – like murder.  Good for you!”

*Parting thoughts – This book wasn’t a
laugh out loud while you read it book.
It did have funny moments, but what it’s
really about, is dealing with life the best that you can…
…and learning to give yourself permission to
not be perfect.

  1. The best thing I ever did for myself was to retire from my employer of 23 years. The stress of that job was causing me severe depression. Not a good thing!
