About the Books

Wild Tales & Garden Thrills Show Me The Green! – Book 1

What’s more fun in the garden than a pile of poop and a curious bee? How about bragging rights, two tickets to the fall festival, and a hundred dollars?

It’s the First Annual Garden Contest sponsored by the local farmer’s market, and Lexi and Jason Williams are determined to win with organic vegetables grown under the supervision of their mother. In this battle against time and the elements, the kids are sidetracked by everything from caterpillars to worms, seeds to harvest. While the siblings test each other’s patience, they marvel at the wealth of discoveries hidden away between the beds of their garden. Including, poop. Worm poop, mostly. Who knew a garden could be so much fun?

Wild Tales & Garden Thrills Beans, Greens and Grades – Book 2

Beans, Greens and Grades continues the adventure as Lexi and Jason take center stage at school. Enlisted to help establish a school garden, the kids are thrilled to be selected as Green Ambassadors for this very important project, but quickly learn how challenging it can be to work with others toward a common goal.

Wild Tales & Garden Thrills, The Muddy Fingers Garden Crew to the Rescue! – Book 3

The Muddy Fingers Garden Crew follows the children from school to a nearby neighborhood where they work to save a friend’s community garden in jeopardy of closing due to a squabble among neighbors. Will all be lost? Not if the kids have anything to say about it!

Ages 7 – 10
Grades 2 – 5

Each delightful book features large print, for early readers (and tired grandma eyes 🙂 and there is a companion coloring book available for each volume. Venetta’s website has some great resources for parents and teachers, so I would highly recommend checking those out…along with her blogs! Not only will kids have a lot of fun reading these books, but they will also learn about friendship, comradery, AND they might just gain a desire to learn more about gardening.

About the Author
D.S. Venetta lives in Central Florida with her husband and two children and Yellow Lab—Cody-boy! When not whacking away at her keyboard crafting her next novel or spending time with her kids, you’ll find her in her organic garden chasing grasshoppers and plucking hornworms. When she’s not knee-deep in dirt or her imagination, D.S. Venetta contributes gardening advice for various websites, publications, schools and was recently featured in the new cookbook, Earth Eats: Real Food Green Living.

It’s a busy life to be sure, but at the end of the day, if she can inspire someone to stop and smell the roses (or rosemary!) and be kind to Mother Earth then she’s done all right.
