LOVE, LIFE & LUCILLE: Lessons Learned from a Centenarian, by Judy Gaman

LOVE LIFE & LUCILLE

About the Book

“Judy Gaman was so busy making a name for herself that she barely took the time to meet a stranger, enjoy life, or simply stop to breathe. Immersed in her job as the director of business development for a high-profile medical practice—a job that required her to write health and wellness books and host a nationally syndicated radio show—she spent every day going full speed ahead with no looking back. That is, until the day she met Lucille Fleming.

While writing a book on longevity, Judy interviewed Lucille, an elegant and spirited woman who had just recently turned 100. Lucille had the fashion and style of old Hollywood, but it was all hidden behind the doors of her assisted living center. What began as a quick meeting became a lasting friendship that transformed into an inseparable bond. Lucille brought incredible wisdom and great stories to the table, while Judy provided an avenue for excitement and new opportunities. Together, the two began living life to the fullest, and meeting the most interesting people along the way (including Suzanne Somers). But then Lucille’s life came to an end through unexpected and unfortunate circumstances—and the very first lesson she ever taught Judy proved to be the most important one of all.”

JUGGLING THE ISSUES: Living with Asperger’s Syndrome, by Matthew Kenslow

JUGGLING THE ISSUES

About the Book

Living beyond Asperger’s

“Matthew Kenslow was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, which is within the autistic spectrum, when he was six years old. He shares its common symptoms, such as lacking social and conversational skills, and having poor eye contact with others. In school he had difficulty with certain subjects, but others (like math and science) came easily to him. He has the ability to remember a myriad of facts and the events in his life—some he would rather forget!

Juggling the Issues: Living With Asperger’s Syndrome is a collection of short stories from his life. He describes many of the issues that those with autism and Asperger’s face each day. He also talks about some of the positive aspects of having Asperger’s as well. What is life like living with Asperger’s? Matthew describes it as having “an enhancer” plugged into his brain, which accelerates his thoughts and even his emotions. “Asperger’s will deepen everything’s significance, causing us to take things to a more intense level,” he confides.

If you want to better understand those living with Asperger’s, you need to read this book. The insights Kenslow shares come from his deep experience of living with it and making the most of life’s opportunities.”

LIVING WITH CONVICTION, by Toby Dorr

LIVING WITH CONVICTION

About the Book

“Having never had so much as a traffic ticket, Toby Dorr shattered her mold of perfection by helping a convicted murderer, a trainer in her prison dog program, escape in a dog crate.

Her story is a lesson in perspective. Instead of focusing on everything she lost, Dorr made a conscious choice to use her twenty-seven months in prison as a period to reflect on her life, heal emotional wounds, plot a course for the future, and embrace the sisterhood of women she encountered behind bars.

Far from easy, her prison sentence was gut-wrenching and devastating. But a pivoting revelation during a stay in suicide watch gave her purpose and direction. Filled with drama, action, adventure, heartache, and redemption, Dorr bears her soul and tells a story of heartbreak, courage, grace, and transformation.

While the escape made national headlines and captured the imaginations of an entire country, Dorr’s memoir is an inspirational invitation to look upon life with self-acceptance and love. She pushes readers to move beyond the confines of their circumstances and live each moment with conviction, allowing its fullest, most beautiful potential to unfold.”

A SAN FRANCISCO CONSERVATIVE, David Parker Essays Volume two, by David Parker

A SAN FRANCISO CONSERVATIVE

About the Book

“During this turbulent time, the individual and governmental decisions that will be made in the months and years ahead are likely to have a “ripple effect” that is felt for decades to come. In the nick of time, a new book offers a much-needed reminder that the timeless principles of economics are essential to the preservation of American democracy. Entrepreneur, investor, and lifelong educator David Parker, at age 50, went back to school to gain a deeper understanding of these enduring ideas–and the missteps of nations that deviated from them—to write his playfully-titled new book, A San Francisco Conservative. Just as Parker’s first book, Income and Wealth, provided readers with a thought-provoking examination of the foundation on which the nation’s freedom rests, his latest book, “a letter to progressives,” also serves as a message of reassurance and a challenge to the conventional political thinking of the day.

The issues David Parker addresses in this thought-provoking new book are those he has focused on for more than half a century, throughout his 40-year career as a teacher in San Francisco’s public school. In “A San Francisco Conservative,” he reminds readers that “times of crisis” have affected the American economy numerous times over the nation’s history, and provides thoughtful, well-researched support for his belief that numerous opportunities exist for every individual to reap the benefits of financial growth. Parker also cautions that many government leaders – especially those who identify themselves as progressives – risk jeopardizing the very democracy that has produced prosperity for so many over the years.

Parker notes that poet T.S. Eliot beautifully captured the cautionary message he shares in this new book. “Time present and time past, are both perhaps contained in time future, and time future contained in time past,” the poet wrote.

The themes covered in A San Francisco Conservative range from education to taxes, and the political process itself. Parker challenges the widespread belief that a “conservative” (whether a resident of San Francisco or elsewhere) lacks empathy or a personal commitment to help those who are less fortunate. The government programs supported by many in today’s progressive movement to counter this misunderstanding do little more than increase the nation’s deficit in a dangerous way, Parker says.”

INCOME AND WEALTH (Volume One), by David Parker Essays

INCOME AND WEALTH

About the Book

“For 40 years, David Parker served as a teacher in San Francisco’s inner-city schools. Unlike most of his colleagues, however, he did not place his faith and his future in the teachers’ union or the government. Instead, he simultaneously became a real estate investor and entrepreneur, as well as a jazz musician. As Parker jokingly says, “I have 150 years of experience.” His financial journey has been very successful.

A perennial student as well as a teacher, to write “Income and Wealth,” Parker went back to school to study math, finance and economics. It became clear that individual responsibility and initiative are essential keys to financial success, and that government regulation of important sectors of life including healthcare and education will always be a recipe for disaster.

Parker’s message is a positive one. He not only assures readers that financial independence is possible, regardless of annual income, but he provides a step-by-step plan for achieving this desirable goal.

“Income and Wealth” will provide readers with thought-provoking insights into the way the economy really works. It is scholarly writing in political economy, yet provides useful insights into financial decision-making on a daily basis.”

ZEN ROHATSU, by Nora D’Ecclesis

ZEN ROHATSU

About the Book

“Zen Rohatsu is the A to Z of Zen, as it is the backstory of why we meditate, live mindfully and have a spiritual practice. The Zazen Meditation combines the practice with mind and body from a 2,700 year old philosophy. It informs us of the potential enlightenment from suffering that historical Buddha experienced while sitting under a fig tree in ancient times. Meditation keeps us in the present with focus, equanimity and stress management.

Rohatsu is a spiritual practice of meditative zazen that occurs on the eighth day of the twelfth month on the Gregorian calendar. The meditation sessions, which focus on Zazen Meditation rather than scriptures or rituals, are celebrated for seven days in advance of December 8th by Zen practitioners all over the world. The Rohatsu days and nights are replicated enactments of how we think historical Buddha from the Shakyamuni tribe achieved enlightenment. It includes a look at why Buddha sat in front of that banyan fig tree known as a peepul tree in Bodh Gaya in India.

Zen is but one branch of the Buddhist tradition that emerged as a result of those eight days, many years ago before written word. This is the story of how the concept of Buddhist enlightenment emerged from the Buddha’s days on earth. Rohatsu is unique to Mahayana Zen — Japanese Zen which celebrates the Rohatsu experience. It is an introduction to the spiritual practice. We learn from the historical perspective in this book of what motivated Siddhartha’s experience and the men and women who ultimately expanded it globally to share the core concepts. Buddha was a man, not a deity, who found his enlightenment and set his path, avoiding suffering by controlling his thoughts and desires. Buddha always replied, according to ancient verbal communications, “I am awake.”

IT IS ALL ABOUT ME!, By Stacia M. Sims

IT IS ALL ABOUT ME

About the Book

“In this collection of true stories about her life, Stacia Sims unpacks the impact of an upbringing in a narcissistic family where love had to be earned, her true self had to be hidden, and generational cycles needed to be broken. What happened in her past doesn’t define her present nor her future. With the right mindset and guidance, this can be your truth too.

Being true to yourself can sometimes make others uncomfortable, but, as Stacia has learned through disappointments and complications, another person’s discomfort should not become your burden to resolve. Stop carrying other people’s baggage. It Is All About Me! is loaded with other such insights on learning what love means and getting to know yourself. If you find your life revolving around others’ expectations or desires, it’s time to allow your journey to be about you for a change.”

FULFILLING THE DREAM, by Wayman Britt with Ray Serafin

FULFILLING THE DREAM

About the Book

“Fulfilling the Dream: My Pathway to Leadership and Finding Purpose in Serving Others is an honest, eye-opening, and inspiring book about setting aside personal ego and ignoring racial and political bias to bless and benefit others. Wayman Britt’s story is a tale of believing in one’s dreams, realizing them–and then dedicating his life to helping others imagine and achieve better lives.

In this insightful read, Britt candidly shares his personal account of growing up poor in North Carolina during the Jim Crow era of racial discrimination, and the hard work, determination, and faith in God that propelled him through challenges, disappointments, and setbacks to achieve success in life. The family reluctantly moved north to Flint, Michigan with the hope of greater opportunity. Britt takes readers through his quest to open the American Dream to people long excluded and relates lessons and experiences of competing at the highest levels in athletics, corporate culture, government, and politics that are especially relevant to our own lives and the most sensitive cultural issues of our times.

The compelling account of growing up poor and later finding his life mission as a leader in business and government will inspire the reader to achieve personal success while having a positive impact on others. Being successful and living a passionate life of service sounds counterintuitive–Britt’s story proves it is not. His story proves nice guys not only don’t have to finish last, but they can also finish first.

This book will benefit several equally important audiences with the common denominator of interest in true accounts of living the Black experience and overcoming obstacles to get the most out of their potential.”

OVERCOMING THE COVID DARKNESS: How Two Doctor’s Successfully Treated 7000 Patients, by Brian Tyson, M.D. & George Fareed, M.D.

OVERCOMING THE COVID DARKNESS

About the Book

“No one needs to die! Overcoming the COVID Darkness is about two doctors who used a treatment protocol early in the pandemic and early in treatment when the conventional wisdom issued was not to provide any treatment to patients and send them home until they got sick and then go to the hospital where they were then often put on breathing machines – many of whom died. To the contrary, every one of the patients Dr. Tyson and Dr. Fareed treated early in the illness recovered and there were NO deaths. They also treated those who were severely sick and only lost a few.

The treatment protocol they used included pharmaceutical and nutraceutical ingredients and has proven to be highly effective and safe with COVID, especially when caught early. This book is their story complete with testimonials from patients and other doctors, research studies, news clippings, and most of all, the reasons why this successful treatment was held back from the public. Overcoming the COVID Darkness is a must read for anyone concerned about their health and successfully negotiating the pandemic.

Dr. Fareed and Dr. Tyson have been on my radio and TV shows throughout the pandemic doing everything they could to inform the American public about the COVID-19 virus and their treatment protocols which have saved thousands of lives.
Sean Hannity, radio and TV host

How many more people would be alive today had the medical establishment followed the example of Dr. Tyson and Dr. Fareed instead of heeding arrogant bureaucrats who recommended no treatment for COVID-19 until it was often too late?
Senator Ron Johnson, Wisconsin

In Imperial County, CA, a hotspot for COVID in the US based on per capita COVID cases and deaths, our Church members took the protocol Dr. Fareed and Dr. Tyson recommended with amazing results— ZERO deaths!
Pastor Richard Moore, Trinity Baptist Church of Imperial Valley”
