Dr. Linda Randall / Cloverleaf Animal Hospital
Here is a video on the story of Dr. Linda Randall (DVM), owner of the Cloverleaf Animal Hospital of Ohio, and how she has helped several dogs and cats. Although posting this via a Fashionista Events Opportunity, I am thrilled to “bring to light” one of the many wonderful veterinarians that we have in this country. My animals are my FUR BABIES, and their health is of the utmost importance to me. I am blessed to have a loving and caring vet, who has become “like family” as Dr. Randall describes her clients.
Here’s a shout out and a thank you, to the some of the “vets” that have blessed my family:
Dr. Christopher Thompson – Thompson Animal Hospital
Dr. Thompson was our first vet when we moved to Lakeland. He took care of my cats, and bless his heart, he spayed my pot bellied pig, Swinella Porcina. Now you have to understand – pigs are not the easiest animals to anesthetize, and Nelli was no exception. She also did NOT like to ride in the car, and got really car sick. You don’t ever want to be in a car with a car vomiting pig – take my word for it.
Not wanting to have to medicate my dear sweet piggy yet again, Dr. Thompson knew that I was going to have a difficult time on my hands, when I brought my very unhappy, nervous, nauseous (not so little) girl, to the clinic to get her stitches out. So, he met us in the parking lot, and in the 90+ degree summer heat, he climbed into the back of my van (and did I mention that the A/C wasn’t working?), and wrestled her onto her side, and removed the sutures. When the deed was done, the man was drenched in sweat, and covered in pig hair.
Swinella was treated to a trip Sonic – Dr. Thompson was rewarding with one of my famous White Chocolate Cheesecakes!
Dr. Geoffrey Gardner – Retired
I’ve lost count of the number of years that we took our pets to Dr. Gardners office. We began seeing Dr. Gardner, when we acquired a pet with some serious medical problems. His office was just 2 minutes from our home (while Dr. Thompson was a good 20 minutes away), which made a big difference when time was of the essence. He treated our cats (Woobie, Tigger and Pooh), and our dogs (George and Gracie).
Dr. Gardner held monthly low cost vaccination appointments. Patients would line up (starting at dark-thirty on Saturday mornings) all through his parking lot (cars being parked for a mile along the highway), to take advantage of the great savings that he offered. This was not his only contribution to the city of Lakeland. For over 45 years one or both of the Drs’. Gardner (Geoff Gardner and his father Wade Gardner), took care of the swans that live at Lake Hollingsworth. Yearly Dr. Gardner and staff would round up, chip and vaccinate more than 100 swans. No easy feat! Their charge to the city – $0
Becoming one of the foremost authorities on swan medicine and co-authoring a book on swans, Dr. Gardner’s research and treatment of swans has been extremely beneficial to swan keepers in the US, England and Russia

Dr. Sharyl Rushing – Live Oak Animal Hospital
Dr. Rushing has become the newest member in the Libby’s Library favorite Veterinary Fan Club. She and her staff have made such an impression on our family. Cheerful Monica knows who I’m calling about, as soon as I say “Hi Monica, it’s Libby”. Keri, the worlds most awesome vet tech, cracks me up every time I see her (and my husband has her on his HIT list, because she keeps trying to get him to let me adopt the most recent sick cat she’s managed to find)! Dr. Wilkinson – who could be one of my kids (she’s a red head), and who’s 5 kids keep her busy when she isn’t at the clinic (and sometimes while she’s at the clinic) – And of course, Dr. Rushing, who says that my dogs are fantastic – so I’ve gotta love her! Honestly – She is skilled, and caring, and will sit down on the floor and just love all over my babies. Who could ask for anything more?
Here’s looking to many many more years of having Live Oak Animal Hospital taking care of my 4 legged babes!
