5 Unconventional Travel Adventures for Thrill-Seekers
If you absolutely love travelling, you may have become a little bored with the norm of checking into a hotel and exploring area by area. There are so many ways to see our beautiful world, so let’s take a deeper look at some weird and wonderful ways to get that thrill you’re looking for.
Find a family
Not many people know about this option, but one brilliant way of experiencing another culture is to find a family that’s willing to take you in for the duration of your stay. Families often rent out rooms that you could stay in. Some may not even charge rent, but instead ask for help on their farm in exchange for a place to sleep at night. This option of travelling truly allows you to immerse yourself in their lives by working with them, experiencing what they do for fun, and seeing how different families live compared to what you’re used to. Definitely different from the normal!
Take to the seas
Sailing allows you to visit lots of different countries and experience different cultures all in one trip. Instead of booking a cruise ship, why not treat yourself to a yacht charter, which will allow you to experience all of these things in style? It’s not very often you’ll find yourself on a yacht, so the next time you’re booking a trip, keep that in mind.
Volunteer
As you probably know, there are many countries around the world that are dealing with poverty and devastation every day of their lives. Rather than travelling to lots of different places around the world, why not put in your time, effort and love into helping these people and making their lives a little bit better? Not only will it be an experience to remember, but you’ll be helping people in need which will give you an enormous sense of wellbeing. Sadly, there are never enough volunteers to help countries experiencing poverty, so consider making a difference next time you travel.
Travel by yourself
One of the worst parts about travelling is the actual travel. Flights get delayed, taxis are late, and in general, there’s a whole lot of waiting, which can become very frustrating. Consider hiring a campervan and driving yourself. That way you can save money on plane tickets, any airport charges, and you will be in complete control of your destination and travel arrangements. Another bonus of having a campervan is that if there are no hotels available when you arrive, you can camp out in the van until there is one!
Teach
Finally, many countries, like China, are always looking for English teachers for their students. Why not explore the possibility of teaching abroad while also experiencing their way of life? It’s not just China that is looking, there’s a whole multitude of countries that you could teach in! The possibilities are endless.
As you can see, there are many weird and wonderful ways of experiencing what the world has to offer that don’t necessarily have to cost you a lot of money!
All of these travel options are intriguing as they are out of the ordinary of what I normally do. Teaching somewhere would be a wonderful way to immerse myself in a culture.

I’m wanting to take my son on vacation on of these days. I’m thinking about Disney or a cruise. Not sure which one yet. I’ve got to save up some money.
I never thought about staying with a local family to truly immerse myself in a different culture. It’s like having a home away from home. EMUCoupon has been my go-to for affordable travel options, but this adds a whole new dimension to the experience. Also, the idea of volunteering during travels sounds incredible. It not only provides a unique perspective but also gives back to communities in need. I wonder, have you ever volunteered during your travels, and if so, what was the most memorable experience?
