5 Ways To Fight Back Against Forehead Furrows
Noticed some wrinkles setting in on your forehead? Worried that your forehead is going to turn into a washboard? Don’t worry – there is a way to fight back. Below are just a few different ways to reduce forehead wrinkles.
What causes forehead furrows or wrinkles?
Forehead wrinkles are unfortunately a natural symptom of getting older. Like all facial wrinkles, they slowly develop after years of making many facial expressions (forehead lines are caused primarily by raising our eyebrows).
That said, a few lifestyle factors and habits can speed up development of forehead wrinkles. This includes:
- Smoking
- Spending time in the sun without sunscreen
- Not using moisturizer
- Not taking time to de-stress
- Regularly getting a poor night’s sleep
Correcting these bad habits could help to slow down development of future forehead wrinkles. But what about those forehead wrinkles that have already started to form?
5 ways to get rid of forehead wrinkles
There are few potential ways to reduce forehead wrinkles. Their individual effectiveness may depend on how deep the wrinkles are. The treatment options include…
Retinol
While skin care products claim to contain all kinds of ‘anti-aging’ ingredients, there is often very little scientific backing to these claims. The exception is retinol – a form of vitamin A – which has been found by many studies to have a noticeable impact when it comes to reducing fine line wrinkles. Retinol sadly cannot remove deep wrinkles, but it may help to soften them up. There are many over-the-counter skin care products that contain retinol, which you can compare here at Harper’s Bazaar.
Injectables
Injectables such as Botox are another effective remedy against forehead wrinkles. Botox can temporarily paralyze muscles in the forehead to prevent the forehead scrunching up when raising one’s eyebrows. This can reduce the appearance of these wrinkles. You’ll need to visit a specialist clinic such as Colorado Beauty RN to undergo this treatment. The treatment is popular because of its non-invasiveness, but only lasts four months on average.
Chemical peel
Chemical peels work by removing the outer layer of old skin, exposing the fresh new skin beneath. This treatment has the potential to get rid of fine line wrinkles. Chemical peels are typically carried out at specialist clinics and can also be used to get rid of acne.
Laser resurfacing
Laser resurfacing is another treatment that may help to reduce the appearance of forehead wrinkles. Like a chemical peel, it can help to remove the outermost layer of skin, while also tightening skin. There are several clinics that offer this treatment.
Brow lift
A brow lift is a cosmetic procedure to help lift the forehead and tighten skin on the forehead. This can be effective at removing forehead wrinkles. Unlike other treatment options listed above, it does require going under the knife, and therefore has some added risks and a longer recovery time. However, it is one of the best methods for dealing with deeper wrinkles.
I have these furrows. I need to do something but I don’t know what yet. I have serums I use at the moment.
I’m sure I’m going to start seeing mine pretty soon, but honestly, I’m going to embrace my looks as I grow older.
Thanks! As I get older, I invest more into my skincare in order to help reduce wrinkles and folds.
I’m sure this will be coming soon for me, but personally I don’t mind. I do what I can now to avoid as much as possible.
I don’t like my forehead lines. While my bangs hide it, I need to look into these.

I’m starting to get the furrows. But I expect it at the age of 46 or older like me. I do my best to keep my skin looking youthful but you can’t stop the natural aging process.
I was looking for something similar, how to get rid of undereye hollows. That was the same kind of solution. i don’t like the hollows.
This is my chief aging concern. I call them my elevens and lately I feel like I am one my way to my One-thousand, one-hundred, eleven – LOL. Thanks for the suggestions.
