THE SWAN THIEVES (Audio) / Review & Giveaway
Robert Oliver, a renowned painter, has brutally attacked a canvas in the National Gallery of Art.
What would compel an artist to destroy something he values beyond all else? From the confines of his hospital room, Oliver maintains a stubborn silence, offering only the briefest explanation before he stops speaking altogether: “I did it for her.”
But who is she? Psychiatrist Andrew Marlow prides himself on his ability to make even a stone talk, but he gets nowhere with Oliver. Marlow embarks on an unconventional pursuit of the answers his patient won’t provide, and on a journey into the lives of the women Oliver left behind.
As these women paint a portrait of love, betrayal, and artistic obsession, Marlow is pulled deeper within the mind of a troubled genius. He finds surprising possibilities in a package of century-old love letters. Does the key to unlock the mystery lie in a tragedy at the heart of French Impressionism?
Richly told, beautifully imagined, The Swan Thieves takes us across centuries, from American cities to the coast of Normandy, from young love to last love.
Elizabeth Kostova graduated from Yale and holds an MFA from the University of Michigan, where she won the Hopwood Award for the Novel-In-Progress.
I don't usually listen to books on tape, but I think I would really like to listen to this one on audio.

I usually read books but I do like to have an audiobook available to read if I'm in my car for a long time. I haven't had an audiobook for a while and can't remember the last one I had! This sounds very interesting. I follow.

I not actually listen to books on tape often.. can't when driving because it distracts me, and I actually prefer a paper book.. but on times when I am sick and can't keep my eyes open because I am really tired, I like to listen to audio books 🙂

Enjoying your blog and yes, I do like audio books and would love to be entered in your giveaway for this book. The last audio books I listened to was "Testimony" by Anita Shreve (a multi-cast production which I enjoyed)and "The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe (read by Robert Petkoff). Both were interesting to me.

This sounds like a great book that I would enjoy listening to. The last book I listened to was City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare. I love the different voices and how the book comes alive when it's read by a good reader.
