Being that this is a “green” holiday, I’ve decided to do a “green” giveaway.

My winner will receive an eco-friendly bag from Envirosax.  This in a bamboo bag is printed with soy-based waterless ink and will arrive packaged in a box made from recycled cardboard.  This bag is made from 45% viscose from  bamboo and 55% linen.

  • I clean my coffee pot by shaking in baking soda and rubbing it around. Rinse with cold water. Works great

  • The #1 thing I’ve done to be more “green” is to stop buying bottled water. We have a Flitrete pitcher in our fridge and a water dispenser in the kitchen. That’s hundreds of water bottles a month that we’re not using!

  • Use a big water dispenser with a reusable jug instead of a bunch of little disposable water bottles.

  • I reuse the plastic containers i get from products in the store for leftovers and such. The added plus is if my boys take leftovers home I am not out any expensive containers.

  • To be eco friendly we line dry our clothes as often as possible instead of using the dryer. Also, I use cloth diaper instead of disposables.

  • Fave eco-friendly tip: Put a bucket under the faucet in your shower to catch all the water you’re using while waiting for the water to get hot, and use it to water the plants or mop the floor!

  • We compost, and try to repurpose everything! My next projects are painting mason jars to turn into vases, and an old flower pot to become our new umbrella stand!

  • Modern cloth diapering is surprisingly easy- it really worked out for us. I also second the recommendations for not buying bottled water and for using reusable shopping bags.

  • I don’t have any special tips. I just do stuff like recycle, use reusable bags when shopping, try to buy products that are environmentally friendly, etc. Nice giveaway. Thanks.
