Hill’s® Science Diet® Perfect Weight Saved My Pet

PW Cats and Dog

My pets are family, and therefor, I want them to be healthy and happy.  My furbaby, George, was born with an enlarged heart and also with a weak trachea . Because of his medical issues, we had to be extra vigilant with his care.  On several occasions, his trachea collapsed, which is a dire medical emergency situation.  Our vet determined that it would be in his best interest to lose several pounds, to help with this issue.  He was immediately switched over to Hill’s® Science Diet® Perfect Weight and we started new feeding routines.

Of course, exercise is important for healthy pets, but because of his condition, it was out of the question as the time.  We even had to carry him outside to “due his business”.  He was in so much distress, that no physical exertion was allowed at all, and we had to keep him cooled off.  Being that we lived in Florida, and his worst collapse happened in the middle of the summer, we kept him on a chill mat, along with keeping the AC set low. (We also decided to litter box train him – which actually worked out really well!)  Over the course of a couple of months, George was able to lose over 5 pounds, although this doesn’t sound like a lot, for a small dog this is a HUGE thing.

Thanks to his weight loss, with the help of Hill’s® Science Diet® Perfect Weight, our boy lived for another 12 years.

Having his little guy in my life gave me such an enormous amount of pleasure.  I loved him so much and he brought me such happiness, that it’s almost beyond description. His is sorely missed, but I am so grateful for the time that we had with him, and to the veterinarians that took care of him during his 14 years on this earth.  I’m also thankful for Hill’s for providing us with a quality nutritious  pet food that helped to keep him in the best health possible.

    1. Sadly, we lost George several years ago. We still have another Pug – Gung Poe Wigglebutt. He is now 7 year old, and a total joy!

  1. We love Science Diet too..saved my kitty but not an overweight issue, but crystals in her urine..she was very lucky we got her in time. It was touch and go for a week.

  2. What a adorable pup you have! I have been meaning to research something good because I feel like my big boy is getting a bit chunky, too. Lol

  3. This is the second post I have read about Hill’s Science Diet pet food! It must be a great product! I will have to check this out and see if this is something that will help my cat lose a couple of pounds!

  4. AWW such a cutie. I love that you credit a dog food to sving your dog’s life. That says a lot about a food. I will look into this to see if it’s made with great ingredients or jus fillers.

  5. No dog should go on a diet. It all comes down to the owner’s responsibility if the pet is over weighed.
