Lawn Care For The Unenthusiastic

Even if you love gardening as a hobby, you might still find that lawn care isn’t your thing. Well, you might be very happy to hear that you are not alone. In fact, even professional gardeners get really sick of trying to care for lawns. There’s one main reason for this – it can be very boring work with little reward! After all, it’s not like you will end all that work with some beautiful, blooming flowers or some home-grown veggies. You’ll just have a standard lawn.

Even though it might not be the best kind of work to do, it is still necessary to take good care of your lawn. Here are some tips that should make it slightly easier for the unenthusiastic gardeners to handle.

Feed It Well

Some homeowners think that they only need to feed their lawn during the winter, when it won’t be getting much nutrients from sunlight. However, that isn’t the case. In actual fact, you need to make sure that you are feeding your lawn all year round. If you aren’t sure which lawn feed to use, you can always ask in your nearest gardening center.

Control The Weeds

It is also highly advisable to keep control of the weed situation in your lawn. If you don’t remove the weeds as you see them, you will find that their growth starts to speed up and they could even start spreading. Eventually, you might just have weeds instead of a lawn. Regular maintenance by a reliable landscaping company like Landscaping Madison WI, can keep weeds at bay.

Remember To Aerate It

Do you aerate your lawn often? If not, this is something that you should start to do. This will prevent the grass getting too compacted together, and it will ensure that enough air is able to flow down to the roots. If you aren’t sure how to do this, gardening firms like can help you with it. Once your lawn is well aerated, it will grow much better.

Mow Regularly

Ideally, you should aerate the grass after you have mown the lawn. And you need to mow the lawn at least once a week through the summer. Over winter, you won’t have to do it quite so much as the grass growth will slow in the cold weather. If you need a new lawnmower, it’s worth buying one that is recommended by

Be Prepared To Fill Patches

When we think of a lawn, we often think of a complete area of unbroken grass. However, it is very common for lawns to be fairly patchy. If you ever spot any patches in your own lawn, you should try and fill them as soon as possible before they get bigger. You can do this by simply buying lawn seed from your local garden center. You might want to buy some turf to cover the lawn in if it is particularly patchy.

Even the most unenthusiastic of you should be able to take these tips and use them to improve your garden lawn. Once you do, it will help your whole garden look fab!
