When our kids were small – we never went on roadtrips.
There were just to darn many of them – kids, I mean.
We have 10, and when they were all living at home,
we didn’t have a van large enough to hold them all.
If we all went anywhere “together”, we had to split up, and go in 2-3 cars.
(Life did get easier, when we had older children who could drive:-)
Now that we are almost empty nesters – only 1 left at home…
my husband and I go on roadtrips, to visit family and friends.
In the last few years, we taken several road trips to Florida, and Alabama.
My youngest daughter and I, drove across country to Colorado.
Another daughter and I drove from Utah to Wyoming, and then Colorado.
We bring snacks, to cut down on expenses,
and Twizzlers® are a must have!
Bringing snacks and having sandwiches and water,
makes sure that we eat well and stay hydrated.
There are so many wonderful rest stops along the
highways, that finding a place to “pull over” is never a problem!
Some rest stops are so scenic, it would be almost a crime to pass them up.
When we stopped at one in Wyoming, we spent a good hour
with my 3 year old grandaughter, taking in the view
and watching the antics of about 50 prairie dogs.
The photo’s that we took there, are prized priceless to me!
I’ve always wanted to go to Niagara Falls, so I’m hoping that one day
in the near future, the husband and I
(along with Gabe…my Service Dog)
will pack up the SUV and head out onto the open road.
NY – here we come!
He’s the driver, and I’m the navigator. I love being able
to mark off the places that we’ve driven through or past.
