My Stay at the Ginger Cat Bed and Breakfast
Tucked away on a back road (off of 14A) just 15 miles from Watkins Glen, NY, the Ginger Cat Bed and Breakfast is a breath of fresh air!
I arrived on a Friday afternoon around 4:30 and was warmly greeted by Gita. Once I was settled into my room, I got a chance to talk cats, and meet some of the other members of the household…Wally, Indiana Jones, Sebastian, and Hannah.

Just minutes into our conversation, I felt a deep kinship with Gita. We both share a love of animals, have taken in many a rescue, and had to deal with many of the same kitty issues…distrust of humans, diabetes, and obesity! She shared information on local sites and attractions, and made me feel instantly “At Home Away from Home”.
Each room is cozy and, of course, cat themed. This is not a grand multi-story home decked out in fine antiques and other expensive furnishings. It is a bright and whimsical home where you can feel comfortable walking around in bare feet.
One of my dearest friends, Becky, showed up on Friday evening to spend a few days with me. We took a short ride around the area and then retreated to our room (that by-the-way, does not have TV, but does have wi-fi) and settled in for some work on our computers, chatting and a little Netflix on our laptops (and eating the home made fudge that was left in our room for us). We slept soundly on the comfy mattress and super soft sheets, snuggled under a quilt. Ours was the Zachary Room, which is dog friendly.

If you feel like watching TV, just check in with Gita. Chances are you’ll be able to crash on her sofa for a while to watch a show or two (and you’re sure to be joined by Wally, Indiana Jones and maybe even Sebastian…you may even get a little cuddle from one or all three)!
Breakfast was delicious and Gita made sure to label all dishes so that I knew what each was. She made sure to find out if there were any dietary restrictions when we booked our stay. I like to tell innkeepers not to worry about cooking anything special for me (since I have so many food allergies). I usually have enough snacks on hand to tide me over, but she insisted that she would have plenty that I could eat…and put on a spread she did. Her whole wheat waffles were absolutely wonderful!

Lot of info on area attractions and books on Vegan Living are available for all to read. As I mentioned earlier, the Ginger Cat Bed and Breakfast is a vegan establishment. All meals and snacks provided are vegan and she asks that all foodstuffs brought in are vegan also, Please plan to bring no meat or dairy products with you.

Such a neat bed and breakfast! I have never stayed at one before but would love to vacation at a bed and breakfast some day. It really looks like a great place!!
This place is absolutely adorable. I love how it’s decorated. It would feel more like staying with a relative than a stuffy hotel. In fact, that’s why I love B&Bs and Air BnB over hotels – you feel more like you’re at home. It just adds an extra level of comfort to your getaway. And those cats! Oh man. I’d have a hard time leaving because I’d just want to play with them all day hahaha
that looks like an awesome B&B. I’ll have to keep in mind when i’m in that area.
What a quaint little BnB. I love animals so it would be nice to have some furry friends to great me during my stay.
This looks like such a great place! I’ve never stayed at a bed and breakfast before but I would love to. Thanks for sharing!
