My Favorite Things About Easter
The word Easter means so much to so many…
It is a time of renewal and a season of rejoicing.
The world is awakening.
Baby lambs, soft yellow chicks,
calves and foals, redbirds and robins.
Blue skies, fluffy clouds…
calves and foals, redbirds and robins.
Blue skies, fluffy clouds…
…the cold of winter has been swept away with warm
temperatures and spring rain.
Grass becomes green again, leaves burst forth on the
Crepe Myrtles, and the Azaleas bloom in a profusion of color.
Flora and Fauna are at their finest.
Flora and Fauna are at their finest.
The stores are filled with pastel dresses, straw hats, and sandals.
Life becomes “lighter”. No more heavy coats, and mittens.
Snow boots are replace with rain boots.
Snow boots are replace with rain boots.
More daylight. More sunshine.
Windows are opened to let in the fresh air.
Gardens are planted, trees are pruned, flowers are stretching
their petals toward the sun.
Spring cleaning commences.
Windows are washed, closets are cleaned out.
Drapes are vacuumed, and cabinets are wipes down.
The first cookouts of the new year bring family and friends together,
as do Spring Breaks from school.
The beaches now sport the young as opposed to the old.
Snowbirds flock north and college students hit the shores.
Children at school are now drawing pictures of bunnies and flowers,
instead of turkeys and presents wrapped up in red bows.
Time is spent on porches, instead of in front of fireplaces.
Diets are in full swing, preparing for summer vacations.
Shelves in department stores, are lined with candy.
Hams are in abundance.
Easter Egg Hunts are being planned, and lots
of thought is going into that big Sunday dinner…
when extended family meet around the table once again.
Eggs will be dyed, and Easter baskets will be filled with plastic grass,
jelly beans, and chocolate bunnies.
This is a most blessed time of year.
For Christians around the world, Easter is the time
to remember the miraculous resurrection of Christ.
The time when He broke the bonds of death, and provided
the way for us to return to our Heavenly Father.
Dawn will break on Easter Sunday, and we will sing
songs of praises to our Lord and King.
