Summer Blog Challenge – Day 3
15 interesting facts about yourself
Hmmm – this one won’t be all that easy, since I’ve already posted just about everything that there is to know about me, and I certainly don’t want to bore you to death.
1. I’m as old as dirt, and most day’s I feel even older.
2. I was born, raised, and lived in Florida almost all of my life.
3. My childhood home was the site of an archaeological dig, where a number of mastodon teeth, and other remains were found. These specimens are on display at The Natural Museum of History on the campus of The University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida.
4. I was accidentally knocked down by one of Stephen Spielbergs body guards, at the soft opening of Universal’s Islands of Adventure® .
5. I used to be a pug foster mom.
6. My husbands great great great {great?} grandfather, John Sevier, was the second governor of the state of TN.
7. My best friend’s husband’s cousin, is Timothy Omundson, who plays Head Detective Carlton Lassitor, on the TV comedy series, Psych.
8. I love the color green, which, BTW, is the color of my eyes.
9. My husband and I, are the parents of 5 boys and 5 girls.
10. I LOVE animals. I’ve had so many pets in my life, including a Prairie Dog, Rabbits, Hamsters, Dogs, Cats, Fish, Mice, Guinea Pigs, Turtles, Frogs, and a 200+ lb. pig named Swinella Porcina.
11. My maternal grandfather was a Florida Fish and Wildlife Officer, who routinely brought his work home with him at night. We never knew what would be in his backyard or barn..Bob Cats. Armadillos, Florida Panthers, Raccoons, Alligators, Possums. You name it, he brought it home. Grandpa was a local celebrity when he captured a 10 foot nuisance alligator, later named Henry, and relocated to the Lake Maggiore, Nature Trail – now known as Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. That old gator loved marshmallows, and lived a very lazy life, in a large pen on the preserve. Apparently the only time he got riled up, was when grandpa came onto the property. They say that he would go nuts, whenever my grandpa arrived, and stepped out of his patrol car. LOL, my grandpa (who I loved dearly), also caught a local TV personality – Ernie Lee – fishing without a license.
12. I was hit by lightening when I was 7 months pregnant with my 8th child. He’s always marched to a different drummer. He taught himself how to multiply and divide, before he started kindergarten, and was a computer wiz by the time he was 7.
13. All of our kids names (except for the youngest – who was adopted at the age of 9), being with the letter “S”. After being with us for a year or two, he decided that he wanted a nickname that started with S. We told him to pick out a name that he wanted to use. He thought about it for a while (and mind you, he was really far behind, because of learning disabilities, and medical issues) and pronounced that his new name was going to be CENTERPIECE.
14. I’m a good cook, if I say so myself. I love to bake bread, and I’ve posted one of my families favorite roll recipes along with Photo’s. One of these days, I’ll start getting more recipes up on the blog.
15. This is probably one of the hardest posts that I’ve had to write – Whew, I’m glad that I’m done. Now, if I can just keep up with this challenge!
I enjoyed reading your list. Ten children…wow. Lots of stories there I am sure.
