The Ultimate Guide To Help You Plan The Perfect Baby Shower!
Make Sure She Wants One!
Before you begin all of this planning business, make sure that your friend actually wants a baby shower thrown in her honor. You don’t want to waste time and money doing all of this planning without her approval!
Plan The Perfect Baby Shower!
Co-Hosting
If you want to throw an amazing baby shower, plan on doing so with another person. Two heads are better than one, and if two of you plan it, who knows how fabulous the party will be!
Don’t Invite Too Many People
It’s okay to get a few basic invitations printed up or some handmade ones created if that is your thing. But remember, not everyone is able to come to every baby shower (especially at the last minute!) So don’t invite too many people; if possible, invite no more than 20 guests. This way, it’s intimate enough for your friend but still has all of the perks she needs in order for her to celebrate!
Theme
What is your friend into? What kind of vibe does she want for her shower? If you don’t know, ask her! Once you know what her interests are, it’s easy to find a matching theme. Are they outdoorsy people? Maybe go with a camping or hiking-themed baby shower. Animal lovers? A zoo-themed baby shower could be perfect! The sky’s the limit when it comes to themes, so get creative and have fun with it!
Food And Drinks
You don’t have to stick with traditional food ideas for this type of party. There are plenty of better options than carrot sticks and fruit plates! Even though these foods are healthy, they aren’t the most exciting in the world. Instead, focus on offering food options that will excite your guests’ palettes in addition to nourishing them.
For example, simply grilled cheese sandwiches (with different types of cheeses and add-ins like roasted tomatoes or pesto) can be a fun and tasty option. Another idea is to set up a make-your-own slider bar, where guests can choose from a variety of toppings for their mini burgers.
Games
Games are always a hit at baby showers, and there are plenty of fun options to choose from. If you want something that is both entertaining and easy to set up, consider playing baby shower bingo. This game is just like traditional bingo, but instead of calling out numbers, the caller will say common phrases that might be heard at a baby shower (e.g., “Diaper rash cream” or “The stork is delivering a package”).
Another great idea is to get creative with your baby shower photo booth. You can make this more interesting by setting it up in a “memory wall” style where guests can take selfies and pin them on a corkboard.
If you’re feeling adventurous, consider renting a photobooth for an hour or two, but only have one backdrop available. This will encourage guests to be more outgoing and have fun taking photos that they might not normally take in a traditional booth experience.
Baby Gifts
This is definitely an important aspect of any baby shower! While it’s always nice to have some registry items on hand for guests to buy, it’s also a great idea to include a few handmade items as well. If you are stuck on what to make, there are plenty of wonderful gift ideas for new parents online.
A few examples include:
- Basics such as elegant baby clothes, toys, colorful baby shower decorations, or even diapers. Every new parent needs a few extra basic supplies when starting out, so providing some of these items can be especially appreciated.
- Or something creative such as a handmade quilt with the parents’ initials or ultrasound images, would make an amazing keepsake that the family will treasure forever.
- Another great idea is to create a custom photo book or scrapbook filled with pictures of friends and family sending their love to the new parents and their bundle of joy.
Whichever gifts you choose, make sure to include a card with a heartfelt message to commemorate the day! The new parents are sure to appreciate the thoughtfulness behind each gift.
Pictures And Decorating
If you can, pick out a nice background for photos to be taken at the baby shower. Also, try to purchase or make some matching decoration items that will tie everything together. Even something as simple as stringing up some colorful balloons is enough for guests to know where they are!
Celebrate!
After all of this hard work and preparation, the day has finally arrived: it’s time to celebrate with your friend and all of her family and friends! Make sure everyone mingles well; give them games to play if there is time; take lots of pictures; and most importantly, make sure she knows how grateful you are for such an amazing occasion. So take a deep breath, relax, and enjoy the day!
