WALGREENS – Family Neighborhood Drugstores with Big City Amenities – Rewards Balance Loyalty Program
We live in a small unincorporated town, on the outskirts of a small city. When giving any one directions, we all say “Leave town and head North, and after X number of miles – when you get to the intersection with the traffic light (which is kind of silly, because we only have one), that has the Methodist Church on one corner and the Walgreens on the other corner, you either turn left, right, or keep heading straight ahead.”
Our local community grocery store, and the family owned restaurant close at 8:00 and 9:00 pm, respectively. So, after 9 in the evening, Walgreens is the happ’n place to be. On weekends the teenagers hang out by the Redbox, and the men stand out in the parking lot, talking about the big game, or the one that got away. Young moms pop in to grab a bag of diapers, and I’m picking up a dozen eggs, and checking to see if there is a new color of nail polish, that I just MUST HAVE. The outside is never littered, the grass is neatly cut, and at night, the lights shine brightly through the sparkling clean windows.You can find just about anything you need at Walgreens. Greeting cards, mops and cleansers, cough syrup – name brands and store brands alike. The store is clean, the shelves are well stocked, and the employees are friendly. You can grab a frozen pizza and a magazine. or during regular (as in like 8am to around 8pm), business hours, you can get a prescription filled, have your blood pressure taken…even get a flu shot from a highly trained pharmacist. Customers smile and nod and one another, and say hello, no matter if they know each other, or not.
Oh my goodness, LOL, this is beginning to sound like a Dickens Novel!
Prices are competitive, and as if Walgreens Savings, isn’t enough – there are now Walgreens Rewards. They have a brand new customer loyalty program called BALANCE REWARDS. This is really really cool. You can sign up for your Loyalty Card, in the store, or online at balancerewards.com – AND Yep – there’s an app for that! This is so cool. You can save time and make your life easier by using the app to check out weekly sales, find coupons, renew a prescription and this is the BEST PART – send the pictures from your cell phone, straight to the photo department. Oh, it gets even better…you can send your picture from your Facebook account, and in most cases, have them ready to pick up in an hour.
Geesh – I’m so excited about this – I may need to go breath into a paper bag!

When we went to the store the other day, to pickup the photos that I had printed (yep the photos that I’ve take with my phone:-), we did a little shopping, and picked up a couple of things that we needed around the house. I had checked the sales flyer on my phone on the way, and grabbed a few coupons – (saved a bundle on photo processing), so we were in and out in no time.
My husband was excited to find some Halloween cereal and candy, to take over to our “adopted” grandchildren. (We have plenty of grands, but they are scattered all over the country, so we get our local fix from a family at church, that we just love.) I got my copies of the pictures that I took at a recent conference that I attended. So, we were both happy, and got home in time for dinner and one of our favorite TV shows. Ahhhh, LIFE IS GOOD!

Woah! I have the app (I use to to refill prescriptions) but never thought about looking at any of the other buttons on it. Thanks for the heads up on the rewards program… definitely going to check it out. There are 3 Walgreens on the way home from work and it’s often the easiest place to stop for those quick few things I need/forgot.
You’re right about that. There’s nothing else opened around here. Sad but true. I love Walgreens. I’ve been a loyal customer for many, many years. It’s nice to know they are giving something back!

Sounds like you have a friendly welcoming store to visit if you need something late at night. Thank goodness it is there for those times when you just need to run out.
I’ve seen the hype about this new feature and will try it in the future. We have no local Walgreen’s though.
