What To Do With Your Pets When You Go Traveling
If you have pets, then you are probably always worried and concerned about what you can do with them when you go on your travels. The truth is that there are a lot of options out there, but it is not always obvious at first what you should or can do. However, in this post, we are going to make it hopefully easier for you by discussing some of the main options that you have and you may want to consider. Let’s take a look at what they are right now.
What To Do With Your Pets When You Go Traveling
Make Use Of Friends
First of all, if you have any friends who can help you, then they are going to be a great option here, especially if any of them have pets themselves, and especially if they have pets of the same kind as yours. Of course, if you are going away for a long time, then you may want to think about something you can do to say thank you, perhaps even including paying them. Or they might be happy just to look after your pets for you without any pay. In any case, it’s great to be able to leave your pets with people you know and trust.
Go To The Professionals
Of course, you can also make use of the professionals, and you might find that there are a lot of these in your area that you can look to. If you have a cat, then you will be looking for a cattery, and if you have dogs then it’s going to be a dog boarding or kennel place. In any case, this is a great option because you know that they are going to be well looked after, and it’s going to mean that you are much more likely to feel at peace about having left them at home.
Avoid Long Travel
It may be that you just need to avoid any long trips while you have a pet, instead. This is the kind of thing that can be really important and useful because you are going to find that you are much more likely to have a good time without having to worry about it, especially if your pets are not that good at being left alone. So if you are not sure about your pets being left, perhaps just avoid going on any long trips at all. This can be a good option for a lot of people.
Take Them With You!
Finally, you may even be able to take your pets with you. This will of course depend on the type of pet, what they are like when traveling, and where you are going and for how long. But very often, it is actually one of the best options around, and you might be surprised at how easy and possible it can be to take a pet on your travels with you. If you are going on something like a road trip in particular, then this might be something you can think about.

I always have friends watch our cats and guinea pig! It’s just easier to have them come to the house.
I usually don’t travel with my pets; I have my older son come and watch them. Or sometimes I hire a professional dog sitter. It is so easy to have them coming home.
Traveling with a pet can be tough. You have some good tips.
I usually have family look after my pets when I’m gone. We have chickens, ducks, a cat and even frogs. I hope to someday be able to take my cat on vacation with me though.
Friends and family have always been our go-to since there is so many of us. All you really need is just a list of things to help your pet sitter.
I always take my pets with me when we travel…. but if I was going to do a cruise or something like that and could not take them with I would for sure look to family to help take care of them for me. I am iffy about dog daycare places as I know my cousins dog got really sick after being there while they were away on vacation.
ii know friends and family who end up staying home because they can’t find the best options for their pets often. or go on road trips so they can take their pets with them
I am so thankful we have the best dog sitter. Whenever we travel I never have to stress about my dog because I know she’s having a great time away.
I also have an amazing friend that comes by to check on our littler pets. We have quite the zoo in our house!
We usually take our dog with us, when it’s possibile, otherwise we ask help to friend or relatives to live with our dog in our house!
These are all really great and very helpful tips! This is perfect specially to those who always travel with their pets with them
These are the legit questions. Bringing dogs into our lives changed travel a lot for us. In the past, we only had cats and they are MUCH more travel friendly – leaving a cat for a weekend is easy. Pups, not so much!
Traveling with pets definitely brings in another element of planning. These are good pointers to keep in mind.
Thanks for sharing them! Having all this information is very helpful to me especially when I travel with my pets.
I haven’t traveled in a long time because I do have animals. I’d probably bring them along with me if I do go somewhere. Well the dogs anyhow. The cat would have to stay home and I’d have my son stop in to check on her.
