Discover Which Sports You Can Practice In Your Backyard

Sport is an essential part of life. Research has shown that regular exercise doesn’t just help to ward off age-related diseases, it also can extend your life by as much as seven years! The key to exercising regularly and sticking to your habit is to find a sport you enjoy.

The good news is that many of these sports can be done in your backyard. You don’t even need a large backyard. Naturally, having access to your favorite sport in your own yard is going to make it easier to find the time to do it.

Discover Which Sports You Can Practice In Your Backyard …All you have to do is choose your sport.

Before You Start

There are some sports that need larger backyards. For example, building a small tennis court in your yard is easier than you think. But, you do need enough space for it. Consider where you will create your sport area.

You should also consider the right surface for your sport. In many cases, artificial grass can be the best option as it maintains the look of your yard while offering a good surface for almost any sport. It’s worth chatting to the experts in sport surfaces Sydney first.

Basketball

This is an obvious one. You only need a small space with either asphalt, concrete, or artificial grass, and a hoop. You can opt for regulation height or go a little smaller. It’s then possible to play one-on-one or simply practice shooting hoops. It’s more of a workout than you may think.

Of course, if you have a space 60ft long and 60ft wide you can create a half-sized court and play with some friends.

Table Tennis

Table tennis requires very little room, you simply need a table and enough space to move around it freely. As you get better it becomes a surprisingly intensive sport. Best of all, you can have the table open to play with friends or close half of it to allow the ball to bounce back and play by yourself.

Badminton

Admittedly, badminton is not a great option if you often have windy days. But, if not, and you have 44ft by 20ft of space you can create a full-sized badminton court!

Using artificial grass makes the surface easy to prepare and then you just need a regulation-size net and a friend or two to play with.

Trampolining

Trampolining has been an official Olympic sport since 2000! It can be fun to jump and learn to do flips on a trampoline. But, as anyone who has ever used a trampoline will know, it quickly gets your heart racing and leaves you out of breath.

It’s a great way to exercise. You simply need enough space to put a decent-sized trampoline in your yard. That can be as little as a 15ft circle.

Tennis Court

A full-sized tennis court is as large as a full-sized basketball court. Allow yourself 100ft by 60ft. But, if you have the space it can be a great addition to your home and a great way to exercise regularly.

Of course, if you have a swimming pool or space for one, this can also be a great way to exercise.
