Having Fun at our #DisneySide @HomeCelebration

I was so fortunate to have been picked as a #DisneySide @HomeCelebration Blogger for 2015

We are a long time Disney family.  For over 20 years, we lived just 45 minutes from the entrance to Disney World. I cannot begin to tell you just how many field trips we took with elementary, middle school and high school classes.  Some trips were for fun, others were educational and many were for performances that our children participated in – vocal and orchestra.  One of our son’s was even a part of the grand opening of Animal Kingdom.

Oh, the smiles on my kids faces when their grandmother took them to eat at Cinderellas Royal Table!

Family visits were special, as were those for just us grown ups.  My husband and I went to Disney World (just after we were married), for his 19th birthday. That was a long long time ago.  My best friend took me to Animal Kingdom for my 40th birthday…we ate at the Rain Forest Cafe for lunch, strolled through gift shops and took photo after photo.

After the total shock of learning that I was chosen to host a @Disneyside @Home Celebration, intimidated set it. I searched for posts from previous #DisneySide bloggers, and WOW, so many of their party’s were such grand events.  I knew that I wouldn’t be able to match anywhere near the same scale.  I didn’t want to be totally overwhelmed, but I wanted my grand daughter and her friends so have a great time.

I had no need to worry – our #DisneySide Celebration was a smashing success!

First things first…I received a fantastic box full of goodies to help me get on the right foot.  All the paper goods, were included, along with all sorts of items for our guests (both young and old). My treasure trove even included a cake mix and Mickey Mouse cake pan. Miss K had a great time digging through our huge package.

I was asked to host our party in January or February.  I’m so glad that we decided on January, since  I ended up being out of state during February and early March. On the down side, we live in an area that is spots gaga, and it was impossible to come up with a time when all all my grand daughter’s friends could attend. We ended up having only a handful, but oh, they had so much fun.

When the girls arrived (I only had written permission to publish photographs of one of them) we let them frost their own cupcakes.  After eating as much icing as what went on the cupcakes, they settled in for what I though would be 20 minutes of playing a game.  They actually spent a good hour playing the Disney Princesses Tell Tale Story Telling Card Game from BlueOrange games.  They laughed and giggled until I thought that they would burst.

Later in the evening they settled in with popcorn and juice, for a movie – a Disney movie, of course!
