How to Give Your Home’s Exterior a Makeover

Living in a home that looks attractive can bring a great sense of pride. It makes spending time at home a real pleasure when everything is decorated to match your tastes. But while many of us are happy to turn our hands to an interior design project or two to improve the inside of our homes, tackling the exterior is often a different story.

The exterior of a home is often a neglected area. There are a few reasons why this area may not receive the same level of attention. One reason may be that changing the exterior of your home can seem more intimidating than the inside, as the projects it involved feel like they’re on a larger scale. Another reason is that people spend less time looking at the outside of their homes, so its appearance may feel less important. However, showing your home’s exterior some TLC can bring some major advantages. Increased curb appeal and boosting your home’s value are just two good reasons to pay the exterior some attention. Keep reading for exterior improvement ideas that will give your home an impressive makeover.

Add Some Color

A pop of color can work wonders on the exterior of your home. For a major makeover, you could repaint your siding in a completely different shade. Or, if you want a more subtle change, giving your front door a fresh coat of paint is a great alternative.

Color has such a powerful effect on our mood, so picking a paint color in your favorite shade will give you a boost every time you arrive home.

Introduce New Features

One way to entirely change the appearance of your home’s exterior is to add some new features to the facade. This project can be ambitious or a simple update, but can make a major difference to how your property looks.

Adding a porch to your home is a truly ambitious project, but one that will transform your property. Whether you choose a classic front porch or a wraparound style porch, this new feature will be a big asset to your home.

Another attractive feature you could add to your home is a window well cover. Selecting a custom window well cover, from a company such as CoverUP Window Wells can truly enhance the exterior of your home. Installing a window well cover also makes it easier to keep your home looking in neat and tidy as it prevents debris and leaves accumulating in the well.

Refresh Your Front Yard

Finally, a little refresh of your front yard can make a major difference to your home’s appearance. Pulling out weeds, power washing the driveway, and having a general tidy up is only a day’s work, but the transformation it brings is truly impressive. If you’ve got a green thumb, you may want to introduce some new plants to add extra natural beauty to your outside space. Some easy to maintain flowers, planted in containers will make the perfect finishing touch outside your front door.

  • I’m currently working on replacing some boards on my deck. I’m just waiting on cooler weather to finish it. And once I replace everything, I have to paint my entire deck. Then I am working on replacing some of my mobile home skirting.
