Mitragaia: All About Kratom
Kratom (mitragyna speiosa) is an evergreen tree that grows in tropical climes. It’s native to Southeast Asia and is indigenous to the countries of Thailand, Indonesia, Malayeia, Myanmar, and Papua New Guinea. The crushed leaves been used in these areas in traditional medicines since the 1800’s or earlier. It has opioid properties (basically meaning that it can help with pain relief) and it does have some stimulant type effects. From my research is seems to be legal in the US in all but the following states:
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Indiana
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- Wisconsin
I would check the laws in the state the you live in, as some counties in some states have made Kratom’s use illegal.
As with any herb,supplement, or drug, do your research. Check with your health care professional, as each person has individual health conditions/needs. Weigh the pros and cons of benefits and any contraindications. Be diligent in making purchases from reliable sources.
I suffer from chronic pain and I have issues with anxiety. I qualify in my state for Medical Marijuana, but it is out of my financial comfort zone. Kratom came to my attention, when I joined a Facebook Group of those who have some of the same medical issues that I have, and it was highly recommended by many members of said group.
Then, in May, my oldest son was in a horrific car accident. He was in a little compact car, and hit by a large truck. He had to be cut our of his car and rushed to the hospital. He was unconscious for the first 3 days. He had a broken nose and crush nasal cavities, fractured ribs, broken right ulna and radius, crushed left hip and knee, and his femur and tibia in his left leg were broken. He had surgery to re-set his nose and repair the nasal cavities, along with having all his upper teeth wired in place. Open surgery was done to place rods in his arm. His hip was basically rebuilt using plates and pins, and rods into his legs, were inserted through the VERY long incision in his hip. I’m not quite sure how the knee repair was completely, but to say the least, he has been, and still is, in severe pain.
Once he was stable enough, he was moved to a nursing home / rehab facility. Not the greatest of place for any one to be, but especially hard on a younger person. Sadly, after being there for about 2 1/2 week, he contracted COVID-19 from another patient. To say that he now that he is not only in pain, but is suffering also from anxiety, is an understatement. He asked me if I would please get him some Kratom, and he specifically asked if I would get if from Mitragaia.
