If it is packed away and you don’t miss it over the next few weeks then chances are that you might not need it. Try to be as organized as you can with your de-cluttering, putting things into piles or even boxes ahead of time so when it comes to finalizing your packing near to your moving day you are ready to go.

Join local groups to find out more about the area

If you are moving somewhere completely new where you don’t know anything about the area, it can be a good idea to join local groups. There are many groups you can join such as Facebook groups, or following people on Instagram and Twitter, or joining forums. By doing this you can hear from real locals just what the area is like and find out the best places that you need to visit when you move. You can check out local blogs that cover the area and find out about any safety or transport tips too. It is the best way to find out about where you will be living.

Sort out all the little niggles in your home sooner rather than later

If you  have anything in your home that needs sorting, do it sooner rather than later. If you have dodgy pipes, for example, it is worth getting a plumber in to inspect them before a new family views it and it is picked up in the survey. This can end up knocking money off your final price. If you also fix up things such as windows, any peeling paint and anything else that you have been putting off, it can help you to entice in more viewers. It might also encourage more people to put in an offer if the house looks in better condition.
