Guests Staying For The Summer? How To Prepare Your Home

If you’ve got family coming to stay for a week this summer, you’re probably going to want the house to be as neat, clean, and harmonious as possible. After all, it’s easy to feel like your home is going to be judged, or that the people you want to stay and enjoy themselves are going to have something to complain about!

And we completely understand. Having guests is a nice thing when they’re only going to be around for an hour or two, but if they’re staying away, it’s best behavior ahead! If that’s something that feels daunting to you right now, we’re here to take the pressure off with the three tips below. Put them to good use before you guests rock up and you’ll all have a lovely time!

Make the Guest Room Comfortable

If you’ve got a separate guest room for your visitors to get comfortable in, make sure it’s actually a comfortable place to be. Having a guest room at all is a bit of a privilege, but you’re going to want to include a few amenities to make anyone staying feel right at home.

These amenities will include fresh and clean sheets, plenty of towels in case they haven’t brought their own, and little items like books to read before bed. The latter adds a wonderful personal touch, and will make your guests feel like you really care about the way they feel.

Get a Deep Clean Done

If you want a proper, professional deep clean done, and you certainly don’t have the time or energy to invest yourself, hire the best home cleaning company in your area. Doing so will grant you total peace of mind over the cleanliness of your home, as you’ve had a full team of experienced cleaners mucking into the corners and getting rid of any hint of mess.

If you’re not sure about the price of hiring a cleaning team, or you’re concerned about what they may think when they step into your home, remember that this is for you just as much as it is for the perception of your home. A hardy deep clean in the middle of the year will prevent germs from getting in for at least the next 12 months! And really, once the team is done, you’re likely to find that your home wasn’t anywhere near as dirty as you were worried about!

Put an Inviting Scent in the Air

Scent is a big chunk of our perception. If something smells good, we feel welcomed. That’s why you should think about putting an inviting scent into the air, especially if you don’t tend to use candles or air fresheners on a regular basis. Indeed, if you’re worried about any lingering smells, maybe from an old patch of puppy pee on the carpet, this will eliminate any and all potential whiffs!

If you’ve got guests coming round this summer time, you can make your home the best place to be!

  • This is great advice for getting ready to have a guest stay at your house. I always do a deep clean and try to make them feel as comfortable as possible.
